Keep Moving Forward

“In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”

John 16:33

This scripture keeps coming into my mind.

In every season it feels like there always comes a crossroads. A time where decisions need to be made and the next chapter will begin with whatever choice is made in this moment. I’ll be honest, in my life, these decisions aren’t comfortable and often are the result of hurt. I think about how in college, I was interning and it felt like the next steps were so clear, that I would just continue into that path. That wasn’t the case, life often has a way of shifting and moving, and most of the time it’s not the way I would like. So often I used to write and preach about how God’s plan is so much better, yet during these same times I had my plan all mapped out. Things just made sense, but the truth is, God’s plan is so much better, it just means that we have to get uncomfortable to take a leap.

I talk about this because I want to be open and honest with you. Most of us are in this place of crossroads. Decisions need to be made, and often, we struggle with the choices and the trials we find ourselves in. In the midst of the scary place you may find yourself, rest in the fact that Jesus has overcome the world. All of the hurts and pains, all of the confusion and choices to be made, and all of that which is unknown in the future; all of it has been overcome.

We don’t have to be afraid, we need to keep moving forward.

We can’t hide in complacency or comfort, we need to be growing and maturing in our relationship with Jesus. This means we have to keep moving forward. I’m not saying that you need to pick up and move every couple of months, it simply means that we can’t let fear make us lose sight of what’s truly important.

We need to remember that we have a mighty creator who made us in his image.

We are not to be held captive by fear.

You have a purpose. You are made to love. Love God, and love people. It’s pretty simple, but it takes a whole lot of courage to keep moving forward. Some decisions are clearer than others, the difference between right and wrong becomes apparent when you take a moment to truly look at what you’re doing. Other decisions are between two good things, things that in either direction will have different benefits to your life and what God has for you. In these moments we need to rest in the fact that God will be with us in whatever decision we choose.

What we must be careful of, is that we decide not to move. It looks safe to stay put, not grow or push ourselves, but it only holds us back from what we are capable of.

You are capable of great things.

No matter the decision, no matter how you may be afraid of the unknown, no matter what season you find yourself in; trust God and keep moving forward.

I think back to my original plan; it really wasn’t that good for me. I was unhappy and knew I had more inside of me that what the people around me allowed. So, I kept moving forward. Dear Danielle is a huge part of that, helping me move and remember who God made me to be. I would encourage you to remind yourself of who God says you are, labels we keep might not always be from scripture. Anything that contradicts what scripture says about you is a lie from hell. Don’t allow fear a stronghold to prevent you from stepping into the potential God has designed you from; keep moving forward.
