A Love Letter from Your Creator

“For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.”

-Psalm 139:13-14

This is a message from our creator. The one who formed every part of you, every hair on your head was created by him. Every detail, every part of you that you see as a flaw was formed in the hand of God. Every part of who you are was created outside of time, then brought into time. Ever thought that runs past your head came from the personality and free will you were designed with. The skills, the talents, the dreams, the will to press on; all designed by your creator. The one who gave you life, and sacrificed his son so that you may find hope in him. This is a love letter from your creator. The creator who holds the universe in his hands, who is outside of the concepts of time and reality as we know it, and the one who can do anything; he chose to make you. He says that you are beautiful, you are awesome, and you are his.

Today I want to speak on those three things, because I think you need to be reminded of this. I don’t know who this is directly aimed for, but I feel that I am being called to write this post as a reminder for you. For the man who feels unworthy. For the daughter who feels broken and ugly. For the Grandfather who feels lost. For the family that is struggling to make it through each day. I am writing this for you, because it is something that I need to be reminded of. Because God says that these are lies. God says that you are worthy, that you are beautiful and made whole, that you have been found in the love, and that you will find strength in him. This is for you, this is meant to be a beacon that points back to the creator of all, because he loves you and calls you his child.

You are beautiful.

The word beautiful means to be aesthetically pleasing, which you probably already knew, but it has another meaning. The word beautiful also means, “of a very high standard, or excellent.” The Greek word for beautiful has another definition which is, Elysian, which says something that is divinely inspired; peaceful and perfect. What this all means is, that God made you and therefore you are beautiful. You have been made in the image of God, a divinely inspired being, one that is of a high standard. You are an excellent creation from an incredible designer. The verse from above is from the book of Psalms, a book that is filled with praises from David. David was thanking God for his creation, for each and every one of us and how we are all made by God to do great things. You are beautiful, in every sense of that word. So when you feel alone, when you feel unloved, when you feel cast aside; remember that God made you. That’s what makes you beautiful.

You are awesome.

This is another incredible word, and if you couldn’t tell by now, I really love looking at the meanings behind specific words. The word awesome describes something that is extremely impressive or daunting, something that inspires great admiration. This is what God calls us to be, and what he knows we can be. You have been given talents and skills that can reach so many, and change so many lives. This is the level God calls us to raise up towards, to step into the power that he gives to us. This is for those who feel like there is no point or purpose in their life, you have a purpose. That purpose is to positively change the lives of those around you. Because only you have the power to reach those closest to you. You have a purpose, you don’t have to feel useless, because God says that you are awesome. No matter how old or how young you are, you have the ability to change someone else’s life, and that is the most powerful thing you can do. You can do this because God empowers you to, he calls you awesome, so step into that title.

You are his.

The best part of all that his love letter tells us is that we are his children. We were made in his image, made to be in relationship with him. This is a promise, when you are a child of God, your father will never leave you or forsake you. No matter what your experience has been, maybe you feel abandoned or that no one cares, God is always there. He is a good father, one that has set you free. We have a choice, we can follow after him because he calls us by name, or we can go on our own. You are his, but he leaves you with a choice. He wants you to choose him, but he lets us have a choice. He loves you, and while life won’t be easier when you choose him, it will strengthen you and allow you opportunity to be in a relationship with him and encounter what it truly means to be his creation. You are his, and he loves you more than anything else.

We were made in the image of God. Such a powerful concept that shows the power of God. He loves each of us so much, even when we feel far from him, he calls us out by name. He designed every part of you and sees the person that you were meant to be, even when you don’t see it yourself. This is his love letter to each of us, he says that we are beautiful, that we are awesome, and we are his. He created us, outside of time and space, he designed your inmost being. He wants a relationship with you, and trust me, when you choose him your life will never be the same.

You are made in the image of God, and that is the love letter from your creator.

  1. Hi Joshua, I just logged into wordpress on the off chance I would find something good to read to pull me away from studying chest tubes and catheters (lol, the life of a nursing student). I am impressed by this blog post and the care that you have put into writing it. I also want to thank you for being a reminder that when we feel called to write something we need to write it. That is a gift that God has given so that we can encourage one another. I am not sure if I am the intended recipient of this God given call, but I enjoyed it and was encouraged by it very much. Every day in my nursing world brings new challenges and mounting doubts seem to always overcome me in the face of what I am asked to do. This was a good reminder that my wonderful Father cares and that He will not only help me through, but He believes that I am capable through Him. Thanks for the great encouragement and reminder! I will keep these thoughts with me 🙂 Also, keep writing!
