Sometimes I have a hard time in prayer. Not that praying itself is hard, but sometimes it feels like the things I deal with are either way too massive in my head or feel incredibly small. I want to pray that I see the doors as God opens them and that I follow after the path that I know I have been called into, but it just feels so big and so unknown. It’s not specific, there’s not always a yes or no answer needed for clarity. Then, there are the little things, bumps in the road that happen daily, and there is always a moment of, “does God really care about the small stuff?”
Over the past year there have been massive prayers that many of us have had. Prayers over safety, healing of loved ones, and figuring out how to provide. There have also been small things that we deal with, that sometimes give us a guilt factor of wondering if compared to the pandemic, I should even be coming to God about this.
In all of this, God wants us to come to him. God wants a relationship, He wants the real you, good and bad, big issues and little issues. God wants all of you in this, so be real, and know that He is for you.
I was reading in Isaiah this past week, and a verse struck me like lightening. It was one I have never noticed, but in this season of me wondering what I should bring to God, it was such a simple reminder.
Isaiah 59:1 says, “Surely the arm of the Lord is not too short to save, nor His ear too dull to hear.” As I mentioned last week, feelings are okay, because God wants us to be vulnerable, he wants to talk with you. He always listens.
This verse struck me in two ways, the first, because God has the power to save and the second, God is in your corner. This is a reminder, that in all things, the relationship we have with Christ is the most important thing. That means talking about the big problems and coming to him with the minor details.
Pray big prayers and don’t forget the daily battles.
We’re all going to face big things in our life, and they may feel impossible to overcome. We also are going to have daily battles, while they may seem insignificant, are still affecting us.
God wants to be in those situations.
A relationship means that we need to be communicating, and we can have faith in our creator because His arm is not too short to save or His ear too dull to hear our prayers.
Being faithful means trusting God with everything and in everything.
This verse is a reminder for all of us. No matter what we face, God has the power over it. That doesn’t mean everything will be fixed just the way you want, it simply means that God is all powerful, so why would I not go to him in the midst if it?
The creator of the universe made you and me.
He loved us so much that he sent His son to die for us.
That same son defeated death, making a way for us to be in a relationship with Him.
Yes, that God is not too short to save or His ear too dull to hear us.
That God wants you to run into His loving arms, the way we embrace loved ones in our own lives.
That God doesn’t want you to hold back, he wants to show you just what he has planned for your life.
He says that you are worthy of love, from the very beginning he made you in his image, because he has a purpose and plan over your life.
Sometimes I feel like I can’t pray over the things in my life. That something seems too big or too fantastic to make sense. That certain aspects of life don’t fully matter to God because they might be a minor battle.
God doesn’t work like that. When you have a relationship with Him, He wants everything. He wants your emotions, your good and bad days, your heartache and pain, your anger and frustration, your dreams and joys.
God wants a relationship and He wants to show you the plan He has for your life. No matter what battle you may face, big or small, God is with you in that moment. His arm is not too short to save, nor His ear too dull to hear. Be in a relationship and remain faithful in all things.
